This genre of our work is informed by a broad interest in the evolution of civilizations in all aspects; language, writing, art, culture, technology, agriculture etc.  Each piece should be viewed as a sort of metaphor - an "excavation" - of the earth and of the human mind.

These relief sculptures use Hudson River sand as the aggregate substrate whose surface is manipulated and into which the objects are placed.  Mixed with a polymer adhesive, the slurry cures and hardens so it may later be hung on the wall.
